Overview

The aim of the Level 5 Diploma in Law is to further develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of key legal principles while enhancing their professional, analytical, and research skills. This qualification builds upon Level 4 knowledge and prepares learners for more advanced academic study and professional pathways within the legal sector.

It is designed to equip learners with a broad and practical understanding of law, supporting career progression and contributing towards preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).

Entry Criteria
  • Learners should typically be 18 years or older
  • Entry qualifications may include:
    • A relevant Level 4 Diploma or equivalent qualification
    • GCE Advanced Levels (A-Levels) in three subjects or equivalent
    • Mature learners (21+) with relevant experience (subject to centre approval)
  • Learners whose first language is not English must demonstrate appropriate English language proficiency
Equivalency

The qualification is equivalent to:

  • Foundation Degree
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Year 2 of a UK Bachelor’s Degree

It reflects practical knowledge, skills, and competencies aligned with Level 5 standards on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
