Overview
The aim of the Level 4 Diploma in Law is to provide learners with a strong foundation in core legal principles while developing essential academic, professional, and research skills. This qualification enables learners to gain a broad understanding of legal concepts and prepares them for further study and careers in the legal field.
It also supports progression towards professional pathways, including preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), by building underpinning legal knowledge and analytical abilities.

Entry Criteria
- Learners should typically be 18 years or older

- Mature learners (21+) with relevant experience (subject to centre approval)
- Learners whose first language is not English must demonstrate appropriate English language proficiency
- Centres may assess prior qualifications and experience to ensure suitability for Level 4 study
Equivalency
The qualification is equivalent to:
- Higher National Certificate (HNC)
- Year 1 of a UK Bachelor’s Degree
It reflects practical knowledge, skills, and competencies aligned with Level 4 standards on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
