Overview
The aim of the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology is to provide learners with a strong and comprehensive foundation for a career in the IT industry. The qualification is designed to develop confident, independent thinkers who possess in-depth technical knowledge and the ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
It prepares learners to become “business ready” by equipping them with practical skills and industry-relevant knowledge required to work in both private and public sector organisations. The programme also supports progression into higher education or professional roles within the IT field.

Entry Criteria
- Learners should typically be 18 years or older
- Entry qualifications may include:
- A relevant Level 3 Diploma or equivalent
- GCE Advanced Levels (A-Levels) in at least two subjects or equivalent
- Mature learners (21+) with relevant experience (subject to centre approval)
- Learners whose first language is not English must demonstrate appropriate English language proficiency

Entry Criteria
Entry to the qualifications will be through centre interview and learners will be expected to hold the following:
- demonstrated some ability and possess qualifications at Level 4 for example any Qualifi Level 4 or similar vocational awards;
- spent some time in an organisational role and shown they have capability and drive to develop;
- seeking further professional development and to gain work related skills and know-how.
